FOOD IN NEGERI SEMBILAN

1. Curry laksa from Restoran AsiaI have been eating here since I was a kid, and the curry laksa here is one of the best I've tasted. The coconut-based broth is flavoursome and rich. For kids who do not eat spicy stuff, they do a good "kon lo loh shu fan" (rat tail noodles with pork mince). Full review can be found here and here.

Location: Restoran Asia, 364, Jalan Tok Ungku, 70100 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (opposite Pejabat Pos Rahang and a few shops away from Kong Guan)

GPS coordinates: 2.702364, 101.953962

2. Roast duck and siew yoke (roast pork) from Wah Heng

My whole family loves the roast duck from this shop which we have been eating for many years. The meat is tender and flavourful, with a wonderfully crisp skin. The siew yoke here is also awesome. The wantan mee in the same coffeeshop is also worth trying - try the prawn wantans and sui gau dumplings. Full review can be found here and here.

Location: Kedai Nasi Ayam - Itik Wah Heng, Restoran Haup Huat, Jalan Tuanku Munawir, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (a few lanes away from Pasar Besar Seremban)

GPS coordinates: 2.728625, 101.936367

3. Hakka Mee from Tow Kee

Hakka Mee is said to have originated from Seremban. For Hakka Mee, you have two options - go to the one at the shop opposite the Yellow Bus Stand behind Maybank or the one in the Pasar Besar (Seremban wet market). Both owners are related, usually we get ours from the Pasar Besar. Full review can be found here.

Tow Kee Hakka Noodles, 94 Jalan Kapitan Tam Yeong, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (behind Maybank)
GPS Coordinates: 2.729863, 101.938276

Tow Kee Hakka Noodles, Stall No. 810, Pasar Besar Seremban, Jalan Pasar, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS Coordinates: 2.729633, 101.93679

4. Beef noodles from Quinn's Restaurant

I've eaten many beef noodles in KL but Seremban's dry version remains one of my favorites. The handmade noodles are topped with a special sauce that you can't find anywhere else. Quinn's is related to other famous beef noodles outlets in the Pasar Besar (Seremban wet market) and King's (near The Store in Seremban). I prefer going to Quinn's since it is air-conditioned and very clean. If you're visiting the Pasar Besar, you can also try the sotong mee hoon from adjacent stall. Full review here and here.

Location: Quinn Restaurant, 108 Jalan Toman 6, Kemayan Square, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (near KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital)

GPS Coordinates: 2.719757, 101.923074

5. Wantan mee from Keong Kee

I love eating wantan mee. My all-time favorite is Keong Kee Wantan Mee, as the noodles are really springy. They are homemade daily, sometimes when we visit Seremban we would buy some back to KL to cook. I also love the herbal chicken feet side dish. Full review can be found here.

Location: Keong Kee Wan Tan Mee, 152 Jalan Veloo, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

GPS Coordinates: 2.731481, 101.933534

6. Restoran TC Keong

What's good here? Everything! This is our favorite "dai chow" (Chinese big-fry) restaurant in Seremban. I ate at the original outlet, "dai shu tau" under a big tree in Templer (now closed down) since I was 4 years old and when one of the brothers (owner of this restaurant) opened up here, we started dining here regularly. By regular, I mean 3x a week! Recommended dish are the stir fry beef, wat tan hor (noodles), steamed fish head, deep fry fish, sweet and sour pork, and their signature tofu dish. Full review here and here.

Location: TC Keong Restaurant, No. 7 Ground Floor, Jalan Seri Rahang 1, Taman Seri Rahang, 70100 Seremban (near Cosway)

GPS Coordinates: 2.717239, 101.948973

7. Haji Shariff Cendol

The cendol here is all-natural with no added colouring (it gets its colour from pandan leaves). I like the cendol pulut here, an excellent thirst-quencher on a hot day. In the evenings, the adjacent parking area is converted to a "hawker haven" with a huge variety of delicious food. Full review can be found here.

Location: Haji Shariff Cendol & Catering Sdn Bhd, 44 Jalan Yam Tuan, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

GPS Coordinates: 2.726635, 101.940081

8. Satay from Restoran Sate R & K

Good satay in Seremban? I find the satay here pretty delicious (I like it cos it's quite lean and nicely marinated), and the accompanying peanut sauce is good. I also like the different kinds of nasi goreng (fried rice) I can get here and the seafood tom yum.Full review can be found here.

Location: Restoran Sate R&K , 312 Taman AST, Jalan Sg Ujong, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

GPS coordinates: 2.724012, 101.930165

9. Porridge from Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Kawan

Think porridge should only be eaten when you're feeling under the weather? I could eat the chee chap chuk (pig's offal porridge) from this place anytime. Another stall that we've eaten at for years, the original stall was at Jalan Veloo before moving to the current location. Another must-try here is the smooth pak cham kai (chicken steeped in stock). Be early as they usually sell out within 1 hour of opening at 6.15pm. Full review can be found here.

Location: Kedai Makanan dan Minuman Kawan, 76B Jalan Temiang, 70200 Seremban (next to Kee Mei Siew Pow)

GPS Coordinates: 2.733207, 101.937654

10. Seremban Siew pow

The most famous food from Seremban has to be siew pow, a flaky pastry filled with pork and sometimes chicken. There are many places selling siew pow but our favorite is from Empayar Seremban Siew Pow. There are several types of siew pow but I would recommend the less-glossy looking one (crispy siew pow) as it actually have much crispier and buttery pastry than the glossy siew pow. Full review can be found here.

Location: Empayar Seremban Siew Pow, LG1-57, Tingkat Bawah Tanah, Pasar Besar Negeri Sembilan, Jalan Besar TBK 4, Taman Bukit Kepayang, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

GPS Coordinates: 2.714324,101.907635
